Steinbach, MB – Ted Falk, Member of Parliament for Provencher, has signed onto a letter supporting the inclusion of Sergeant Tommy Prince on the new $5 note.
Sergeant Tommy Prince was Canada’s most decorated Indigenous war veteran. He joined the army at age 24 and became a founding member of the elite 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and the Devil’s Brigade during the Second World War. He went on to serve in the Battle of Kapyong during the Korean War.
“Tommy Prince is military hero and role model for all Canadians,” said Falk. “He served this country with great distinction and deserves recognition for his contributions.”
The Bank of Canada is planning to release a new $5 bill and it is currently seeking public input on its design. Falk joins 8 other Conservative parliamentarians representing constituencies in and bordering the province of Manitoba in the call to include Sergeant Prince.
