Welcome to Canada

[:en]As the war continues to rage in Eastern Europe, the Trudeau government continues to show an alarming lack of interest in protecting Canada’s national security.
While the Government of Canada has been diligent in helping Ukraine defend its country, they have been far less so—to the point of being negligent—in their efforts to deal with growing national security threats here at home.
I have written in the past about Canada’s vulnerability to Russian expansion and aggression in the Arctic. A significant Russian military buildup in the Arctic—not unlike the one on the border of Ukraine prior to the invasion—creates serious national security concerns on our northern border. While a northern invasion is hardly a likely scenario, Russian expansion to steal resources that, by rights, belong to Canada, is. To date, the Trudeau Government has made no real effort to close the gap in our military capabilities and defend our sovereignty in the region.
This government has also failed to deal with a constant barrage of Russian and Chinese cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns. We all saw what happened when Rogers experienced a major system outage earlier this spring. One successful cyber-attack could throw this country into chaos, and the steady flow of disinformation designed to divide and destabilize the west is clearly succeeding.
Related to online disinformation campaigns, we have seen a sharp rise in domestic extremist and militia groups on both the political right and the left.
Another issue is the ability of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to continue to operate in Canada. The IRGC was responsible for shooting down a civilian airliner in 2020, with 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents on board. It took more than 1,000 days for this government to act—and then only as a result of constant pressure from Conservatives—and designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. The Government finally took steps last week to do so but took the half measure of only banning 50% of the leadership of the IRGC (some 10,000 individuals or roughly 4% of the organization) from entering Canada. This is yet another example of Justin Trudeau’s serial weakness when it comes to radical Islamic terror.
Equally alarming is the recent revelation that the Trudeau government has allowed the communist government of China to set up Chinese police stations in Canada. These allow Chinese agents to target, bully, and coerce Canadians of Chinese origin. This is unacceptable. It is equally unacceptable that the government continues to cover up what happened at the Winnipeg National Microbiology Lab—where Chinese military scientists were allowed by the Public Health Agency of Canada to work in and remove deadly pathogens from one of our most secure facilities. Justin Trudeau needs to recognize that communist China cannot be trusted. The fact that he continues to accommodate and cover up for China should be a grave concern for all Canadians.
The Trudeau Government has also refused to deal with the flow of illegal migrants who continue to enter Canada at Roxham Road, in Quebec. Since 2017, approximately 75,000 people have illegally entered Canada at Roxham Road. Many are released into Canada and simply disappear. Rather than deal with the problem, the Liberals have institutionalized illegal immigration in Canada. This is yet another example of Justin Trudeau attempting to import divisive political issues from the US and use them for his own personal political gain. By doing so, he and his party are putting the safety of Canadians at risk.
In each of these cases, the policy of the Trudeau Government appears to line up with his now infamous 2017 tweet: #Welcome to Canada.
Canadians are tired of the Liberals soft-on-crime, soft-on-terror, soft-on-China, soft-on-Putin agenda.
The first priority of any government is to protect its citizens. Only Canada’s Conservatives recognize this imperative. Only Canada’s Conservatives have what it takes to lead in today’s increasingly dangerous world.
