Harper Government Announces Support for Seniors in Provencher

March 3, 2015 – Steinbach, MB. –  Ted Falk, Member of Parliament for Provencher, today announced that seniors groups in Provencher will receive financial support for equipment and renovations to their seniors clubs.

19 organizations will be receiving $294,087 for their projects from the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

“Our Government recognizes the valuable contribution seniors have made to our society and the economy,” said MP Falk. “By supporting New Horizons for Seniors Program projects, we are acting to ensure that seniors maintain a good quality of life and continue to be active members of their communities.”

Quick Facts

  • Under the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP), up to $25,000 in grant funding can be provided to eligible organizations for community-based projects that are led or inspired by seniors
  • Since 2006, the NHSP has funded more than 13,000 projects in hundreds of communities across Canada.
  • Economic Action Plan 2014 increased funding for the NHSP by $5 million per year, for a total of $50 million provided to this program annually.
  • Since 2006, $2.8 billion in annual tax relief has been provided to seniors and pensioners.
  • Minister Wong launched the Government of Canada Action for Seniors report in September 2014. The report is a new information resource highlighting federal programs and services that can be accessed by seniors, their families and caregivers. Quelques faits

  • En vertu du programme Nouveaux Horizons pour les aînés (PNHA), jusqu’à 25 000 $ en subventions peuvent être fournis aux organismes admissibles pour des projets communautaires dirigés ou inspirés par des aînés.
  • Depuis 2006, le PNHA a permis de financer plus de 13 000 projets dans des centaines de localités d’un bout à l’autre du Canada.
  • Le Plan d’action économique de 2014 a augmenté le financement du PNHA de 5 millions de dollars par année, pour un total de 50 millions de dollars accordés dans le cadre de ce programme chaque année.
  • Depuis 2006, 2,8 milliards de dollars en allégements fiscaux annuels ont été accordés aux aînés et aux retraités.
  • La ministre Wong a lancé le rapport intitulé Gouvernement du Canada – Mesures destinées aux aînés en septembre 2014. Ce rapport est une nouvelle ressource d’information mettant en lumière des programmes et des services fédéraux auxquels les aînés, leur famille et les aidants naturels peuvent avoir accès.
