Liberal Corruption Knows No Bounds

The Liberal Party of Canada has never been a stranger to corruption scandals, but the Trudeau Government has made it a way of life.

However, with this government it is not only the gravity of what they have done, but also the artless-ness, the utter brazenness and regularity of their misdeeds that has even the most jaded Canadians shaking their heads in disbelief.

What started with a simple flouting of ethics rules for the PM with his taxpayer funded vacation to a lobbyist’s private island—for which he received the dubious distinction of becoming the only sitting prime minister in Canadian history to be found guilty of violating ethics laws—quickly unfolded a pattern of cronyism and ethical violations by Trudeau and his ministers that is unprecedented in Canadian politics.

Canadians can well remember Justin Trudeau’s political interference in the prosecution of SNC Lavalin—ironically charged with corruption themselves—where he bullied and attempted to coerce Canada’s first indigenous female attorney general to give the former Liberal donor a sweetheart plea deal. When she refused, he fired her and the coverup was on. Trudeau was handed a second conviction for violating ethics laws.

Then came the WE Charity scandal where Trudeau and his team awarded a sole source contract of nearly $1 billion to a charity that had paid members of the Trudeau family nearly half a million dollars and paid for a vacation for and employed the daughter of then Finance Minister Bill Morneau.

During COVID-19 the Trudeau Government spent unprecedented amounts of taxpayer money with tens of millions finding its way into the pockets of Liberal insiders, including former Liberal MP Frank Baylis and the company employing the husband of Trudeau’s Chief of Staff Katie Telford. Hundreds of millions of dollars remain unaccounted for from this period.

While COVID provided many opportunities for graft, few were as blatant and shocking as the Arrive Can app. The contact tracing app was supposed to cost $80,000 then saw its cost inflated to $60 million with millions directed to firms that did no actual work on the project. Multiple RCMP investigations are still underway. As has become their pattern, the Liberal Government (and their NDP lap dogs) have sought to stonewall and cover up the scandal.

On top of the PM himself, multiple Liberal ministers including Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault, International Trade Minister Mary Ng, (then) Fisheries (now Public Safety) Minister Dominic Leblanc, former Finance Minister Bill Morneau, and (then) Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister (now Speaker) Greg Fergus have all contributed to the Trudeau scandal machine with their ethical violations and conflicts of interest.

And now we have yet another scandal—perhaps the biggest yet. The Liberals’ Green Slush Fund.

The Auditor General has found the federal department Sustainable Development and Technology Canada (SDTC) appointed Liberal insiders to run the program who in turn gave $400 million in taxpayer money to their own companies—including the Prime Minister’s handpicked chairperson who gave $217,000 to her own company.

The Auditor General found a whopping 186 separate conflicts of interest within the program and that dozens of ineligible projects were funded by SDTC.

Ethical violations aside, like Arrive Can, the RCMP is investigating corruption at SDTC. True to form, as with previous investigations, the Liberals and their NDP enablers are blocking the RCMP from getting the documents they need to determine who in the government broke the law.

The Liberal Speaker ruled the Government had to turn over the documents and Justin Trudeau has refused to comply, choosing instead to give the matter over to PROC (the procedure and House affairs committee) where his Liberals can kill the investigation.

This latest scandal has paralyzed the House of Commons from being able to deal with the issues facing Canadians, like the cost of housing, Liberal food inflation, and the crime and chaos that are rampant in our streets.

After nine years, Justin Trudeau isn’t worth the cost, crime, or corruption.

The Liberals must end their coverup and hand over the documents to the RCMP so Parliament can get back to working for Canadians.

Only Commonsense Conservatives are standing up for Canadian families and only Conservatives will end the Liberal culture of cronyism and corruption in Ottawa.
