Special Ceremony to Recognize our WWII Veterans

May 20, 2015 – Steinbach, MB – Ted Falk, Member of Parliament for Povencher, today had the opportunity to recognize nine Second World War Veterans in Provencher. Six WWII veterans were personally presented with a limited-edition commemorative lapel pin and a personalized certificate of recognition signed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Three additional WWII Veterans were not able to attend.

Last fall, the Government of Canada launched this special tribute as a symbol of our country’s enduring gratitude to all those who served during this conflict.

“We owe our freedom to the courageous men and women who selflessly fought for the way of life that we all enjoy today,” said MP Falk. “It is my honour to recognize these veterans for their service. We never want to take for granted the sacrifices that they and their families made for us and this ceremony is a small way for us to recognize their heroic efforts on our behalf.”

Le 20 mai 2015 – Steinbach (Manitoba). Aujourd’hui, le député de Provencher, Ted Falk, a eu le plaisir d’honorer neuf vétérans de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. Six d’entre eux ont reçu une épinglette commémorative à tirage limité et un certificat de reconnaissance personnalisé signé par le premier ministre Stephen Harper. Trois vétérans n’ont pas pu assister à la cérémonie.

L’automne dernier, le gouvernement du Canada a lancé cet hommage tout particulier pour symboliser la gratitude éternelle de notre pays envers tous ceux qui ont combattu pendant ce conflit.

« Nous devons notre liberté aux hommes et aux femmes courageux qui se sont sacrifiés pour que nous puissions préserver notre mode de vie, a affirmé Ted Falk. C’est pour moi un honneur de rendre hommage à ces vétérans. Nous ne devons jamais oublier les sacrifices consentis par ces soldats et par leurs familles, et cette cérémonie n’est qu’une modeste façon de reconnaître leur héroïsme. »
