Those who live in glass houses…

[:en]Last week, while he was in Winnipeg, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau threw out the accusation that:
“What the Premier and others across the country don’t seem to be honest about with Canadians is in the places like Manitoba, where the federal price on pollution applies, average families get more money back from the price on pollution than the extra price on pollution costs them.”
Let’s take a moment to analyze the irony of that statement.
Not only was our PM calling the Premier (and others who question his Carbon Tax) dishonest, he backed up his assertion by making a blatantly false claim.
The reality is, that Justin Trudeau’s Carbon Tax is costing Manitoba families far more money than they are getting back from the program. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a Provencher individual let alone a family whose Carbon Action Incentive Rebate comes anywhere close to mitigating the increased costs they’re paying for gas and groceries.
Justin Trudeau has a long track record of dishonesty and division. Often these two have gone hand in hand. The PM attempts to deflect from his own failures and ethical breaches by creating false narratives and attacking and smearing Canadians rather than accept the consequences for his actions.
Canadians will no doubt remember some of these famous incidents:
Small business owners are “tax cheats”: “We have to know that a large percentage of small businesses are actually just ways for wealthier Canadians to save on their taxes.”
On his illegal vacation: “The travel back-and-forth from Nassau to the island (only) happens on the Aga Khan’s private helicopter.”
On SNC Lavalin: “Neither the current nor the previous attorney general was ever directed by me or anyone in my office.”
On the WE scandal: “WE Charity received no preferential treatment, not from me, not from anyone else. The public service recommended WE Charity, and I did absolutely nothing to influence that recommendation.”
Those who choose not be vaccinated against COVID-19 are: “extremists who do not believe in science and are often misogynistic and racist.”
On Government COVID-19 mandates: “We are following the science.”
That Law Enforcement requested the Emergencies Act: “It is now clear that there are serious challenges to law enforcement’s ability to effectively enforce the law…(the Act is ) “reasonable and proportionate to the threats they are meant to address…Invoking the Emergencies Act is never the first thing a government should do, nor event he second. The Act should is to be used sparingly and as a last resort.”
On government interference in the Nova Scotia Mass shooting probe: (My office) “did not put any undue influence or pressure” on police.
All those statements (and many more) are demonstrably false or misleading. To catalogue all of the divisive and misleading statements made by this government over the past seven years would take up far more space and ink than I am afforded here
Here’s my point: Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. For Justin Trudeau or his team to call anyone else “dishonest” is the very definition of hypocrisy.
The sad reality is, even if they were to tell Canadians the truth, after all, they’ve said, and all the damage done, would anybody believe them?
