What’s the Plan to Secure Canada’s Border?

“A nation that cannot control its border is not a nation.”

Long before US President-Elect Trump won his second term, it was President Ronald Reagan who uttered these words.

Sadly, our neighbor to the south has long struggled to stem the flow of illegal migrants across their southern border, with devastating effects.

For years we’ve watched; some with a sympathetic attitude, others smugly, thinking ‘we don’t have that “American” problem.’

Except now, we do.

As with so many aspects of Canadian life—things we once took for granted—Justin Trudeau has lost control of Canada’s borders.

Perhaps it was his bizarre belief that Canada was the first “post-national country”—a people with “no core identity”. That there was “no mainstream in Canada”.

Perhaps a politically motivated move, in line with his own radical woke view of the world, or at a baser level, an attempt to increase votes for his Liberal Party.

Perhaps it was just utter incompetence.

Whatever the case, Justin Trudeau has lost control.

Trudeau has lost control of Canada’s finances.

He has lost control of crime, with his soft-on-crime bail laws that see violent repeat offenders back on the streets withing hours.

He has lost control of himself and his government with their rampant corruption.

And he has lost control of immigration and the border.

His now infamous “welcome to Canada” tweet back in 2017 sent tens of thousands of illegal migrants flooding across our border.

They normalized illegal migration at the expense of those who did the work to come here and waited patiently in line, and off the backs of weary Canadian taxpayers.

They did so at the cost of an orderly and secure immigration system.

They did so at the cost of folks, including new Canadians, no longer being able to find affordable housing.

They did so at great cost to our increasingly strained public healthcare system and our social safety net.

Seven years later, the people keep coming and they still have no plan to secure our border or deal with those here illegally.

The Liberal Government, supported by their NDP enablers, sat back and watched as the backlog of the number of asylum claims skyrocketed from 10,000 to 250,000 over the past nine years.

Now, there are as many as 500,000 people in Canada who are here illegally. When asked what the plan was to ensure these folks leave Canada, the Government’s response was “people will leave by themselves.”

Just like budgets will balance themselves.

Trudeau’s Immigration Minister has admitted that under the Liberals’ watch, the immigration system “has gotten out of control”. That, coupled with the fact he allowed ISIS terrorists, IRGC members, an untold number of Chinese spies, and those with serious criminal records into our country shows the very real danger of an unsecured border and a radical and chaotic immigration system.

Add to that the scourge of illegal drugs guns, and human trafficking, all up under Trudeau.

It’s a mess.

The border mess Trudeau created must be fixed before it’s too late.

Canada’s Conservatives are demanding that Justin Trudeau present a serious plan to secure our border.

That plan should include increasing border patrols, working with provincial law enforcement, and temporarily deputizing provincial law enforcement with border enforcement. Using new technology, including scanners, helicopters, towers, and drones. Tightening visa rules and a plan to expel those who should not be here, starting with those who present a threat to Canada and Canadians. Cracking down on illegal drug production and trafficking. Securing our ports with increased boots on the ground and scanners. Expanding the mandate of CBSA officers to enforce the law beyond border posts.

Using our dollar-for-dollar principle, Conservatives would pay for new border measures by cutting high-priced CBSA consultants and cancelling other wasteful Liberal spending.

Justin Trudeau has lost control, and he has no plan.

A Common Sense Conservative Government with Pierre Poilievre as Prime Minister will ensure we secure our border to protect our security and

economy and put Canada and Canadians first.
